Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Madhuchhaaya Eye Care Centre
How often should I get my eyes checked?
We recommend a comprehensive eye examination at least once every 1–2 years for adults. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of eye disease, or wear glasses/contact lenses, annual exams or more frequent checkups are advised.
What should I expect during an eye exam?
A complete eye exam includes:
Vision testing (reading chart)
Refraction assessment (to check for glasses)
Eye pressure measurement
Retina evaluation
Slit lamp examination
You’ll also be asked about your visual needs and medical history to tailor the examination.
Do you provide contact lens fitting?
Yes! We offer professional contact lens evaluation and fitting, including soft lenses, toric lenses (for astigmatism), multifocal lenses, and daily disposables. Proper fitting and education are part of the service.
Are eye tests painful?
No. Most eye tests are painless and non-invasive. Some parts (like dilation drops) may cause mild, temporary light sensitivity, but they help us view the internal eye structures more clearly.
What is the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?
Optometrist: Trained to conduct eye exams, prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and diagnose common eye conditions.
Ophthalmologist: A medical doctor specializing in medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases.
At Madhuchhaaya Eye Care Centre, our expert team works together to ensure you receive comprehensive care.
When should children have their first eye check-up?
Children should have their first comprehensive eye exam by age 3–4 years, or sooner if you notice:
Squinting or eye turning
Frequent headaches
Difficulty reading
Poor school performance
Early detection helps prevent long-term vision problems.
Can I undergo cataract surgery at your clinic?
We provide pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical follow-up. For the surgical procedure itself, we coordinate with trusted surgical centers and specialists to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
Do you treat retinal conditions?
Yes. We diagnose and manage diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and macular edema using advanced imaging and treatments. Referral for surgical care is provided when necessary.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring:
✔ A valid ID
✔ Current eyewear (glasses/contacts)
✔ Medical history or reports
✔ List of medications
✔ Insurance details (if applicable)
Arriving a few minutes early helps us serve you better.
Do you treat dry eyes?
Absolutely. We assess tear production and quality, and provide treatments including lubricating drops, lifestyle guidance, and advanced therapies when needed.
Is computerized eye testing accurate?
Yes. Modern auto-refractometers provide an objective starting point for prescription. However, a comprehensive exam by our trained doctor refines the final prescription for comfort and accuracy.
